Civil partnerships between same sex couples have been available since December 2005 and since July 2013 same sex couples can undergo a ceremony of marriage. Civil partnerships share many features with marriage and gives similar rights, in respect of housing and pensions for example. A civil partner also requires parental rights over the other partner’s child.

Ending a civil partnership follows the same path as a divorcing married couple and we can advise you on the grounds of a dissolution (as it is known) or help you agree the terms of a formal separation. The division of property and assets and issues involving children are treated in the same way as divorce.
